This ends on a whirlwind of fubar proportions One missing Another found - who I'm pretty sure just gummed up the plan One thinking they know best - One trying to hold all the pieces together To many greenhouses - at the same time not enough And sitting heartbroken and betrayed in the middle of this mess? Sarah Dario wanted revenge Sarah was the perfect pawn a tool to advance his agenda, An easy move for him or so he believed He was not prepared for the ferocious little thing she turned out to be It took a bit for me to engage with the characters but once the pieces began clicking into place and I could see more of the picture I was all in Dario comes across as uncaring and a bit manipulative? lol Let's just say he knows how or what to play to get the results he wants Sarah despite her brainwashing (this is revealed as the story progresses and wow not something I foresaw) is pretty strong, determined, stubborn, and curious. Very dangerous traits when you are a victim of kidnapping but she makes things work. She wavers a bit but I liked her. I do have some questions but I'm sure the answers will come as the series moves forward Like I previously mentioned it did take me a couple of chapters to fully engage but as the story progressed it developed that sweet spot that kept me engaged and wanting more This has some moments of "questionable" actions so if you have limits you might want to pass

Take Me by CD Reiss took me a while to get into reading a Mafia book after reading all those holiday books, but Christine can shake you to the core. This trilogy is going to be a nail-biter.

You know what you want to say, but can’t find the words! This is me! Whoa, Reiss is back with Take Me, the first instalment in her brand new Mafia trilogy, and did this dark romance leave its stamp or what! Although it’s not one of my top reading genres, the author’s unique storytelling had me riding on her every word, making me want to keep turning the pages. So, not only is the build-up of suspense nail-biting, but the diverse cast of characters is shockingly well-done. I shouldn’t have been surprised as this is, of course, Reiss to a tee. In the beginning, some details didn’t seem to add up; however, when I put two and two together, I was left speechless. Dario Lucari is a vengeful man on a mission. A mission he means to accomplish regardless of any obstructions and believe me, there are plenty. Neither was he banking on Sarah’s defiance. Well, that made two of us! But observing her work on her weaknesses, growing from strength to strength when she discovers the biggest lie of her life, made me root for her. In turn, his cruel streak mellows somewhat. How could it not! She’s like an eager child with eyes wide open. Would she be his downfall or redemption? Hmm, I’m still trying to work that one out. The author has merged the mob with a deep-seated social issue that many of us have little knowledge of or choose to ignore. The result is mind-blowingly innovative. Wow, the cliffhanger left me with more questions than I had at the beginning of the story, too! Readers who love fast-action-packed thrilling romance, don’t hesitate to one-click! Roll on the second book in this trilogy, Make Me. And Reiss, simply BRAVO!

About the author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
