This is a collection of various character sketches as seen by the experienced eyes of Shri. More. He has mostly included people from the lowermost levels of society who hardly make any impression on anybody. The profound insight of the author helps us understand the lives of these seemingly trivial personalities. To explore their lives he uses but a few episodes. It is his intense language that makes us look beyond the words. His light strokes help us to reveal the depth of sorrow, pain and struggle in the process of living. As also, some powerful strokes explore the cunningness and shrewdness along with the insincere fraudulence; a resultant product of tough living conditions. Such is the power of his description that the sketches linger in our mind for a long period of time. ग्रामीण कथा-कादंबरीकार श्री. महादेव मोरे यांनी रेखाटलेल्या काही व्यक्तिचित्रांचा हा संग्रह. ही बहुतांशी समाजातील तळागाळाच्या वर्गातल्या, नगण्य ठरवणाऱ्या, परंतु वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण अशा व्यक्तींची शब्दचित्रं आहेत. लेखकाच्या सिद्धहस्त लेखणीनं, जगाला दिसणाNया यांच्या चेहऱ्यामागील चेहऱ्यांच दर्शन यात घडवलं आहे. मोजक्या घटना-प्रसंगांच्या व व्यक्तिनुरूप भाषिक अभिव्यक्तीच्या फटकाऱ्यांनी रेखाटलेली ही व्यक्तिचित्रं वाचकाच्या मनाचा ठाव घेतात. यात जसं माणसांचं दु:ख, वेदना, त्यांची जगण्याची धडपड, परिस्थितीनं होणारी होरपळ यांच्या विविध छटांचं दर्शन घडतं, तसाच माणसांचा बेरकीपणा, इरसालपणा, परिस्थितीपोटी आलेला खोटेपणा यांचाही प्रत्यय येतो.लेखकाच्या, सहानुभूतिपूर्ण दृष्टिकोणामुळे, पुस्तक वाचून संपलं, तरी ही माणसं वाचकाच्या मनात रेंगाळत राहतात....
