Considerable changes are taking place today in the structure and working of governments all over the world. This, in turn, has necessitated a change in the approach to the study of government and politics. While the text gives a comprehensive coverage of constitutions of democracies such as UK, USA, France, Switzerland and Japan, it also deals with the constitutions of authoritarian States like Russia and China. This text should be of great value to undergraduate and postgraduate students of political science as well as aspirants of civil services.

S. A. PALEKAR, Ph.D., is Professor, Department of Political Science, Gulbarga University, Karnataka. He has been teaching Indian Administration at the postgraduate level for the last fifteen years. Professor Palekar has published books and articles on different aspects of Political Science. He has presented research papers at many national and international conferences.
