Annabeth is a lioness shifter. Her family has a reputation of being trouble. She's near her heat cycle and has no prospects in sight for her. Hank is a falcon shifter. He made a promise to mate one of his kind to his father. When he meets Annabeth, he knows she his fated mate, but he refuses her. Annabeth is heart broken but she never gave up on Hank until after her heat cycle ended. Now Hank must prove to Annabeth that he truly loved her and they're meant and fated to be together. I love uncle Uzzie the matchmaker! He's hilarious and sponky. I found it refreshing that the man, Hank, ran from fate rather than the woman in most stories. I liked that Annabeth was strong and brave enough to pursue her man rather than allowing him to run before their relationship had started. The tension between Hank and Annabeth through out the story was thick enough to be cut with a butter knife and their coming together was hot and steamy. I enjoyed this story very much. The seventh book in the Maverick Pride Tales series. Hank Garret a Falcon Shifter, Uncle Uzzi nephew and Annabeth Golden a Lioness shifter's story. A well written story with a very good storyline that held my interest from cover to cover. These two will have a hard time getting to their happy ending because of a promise he made. I enjoyed reading their story. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
