 Canon should be commended as being one of the only manufacturers to consistently offer an enthusiast compact camera in its lineup. This powerful pocket camera is rated among the best in its class. There are however, a few drawbacks.

This book is just an enlarged (to 22 pages, cover and blank pages included) review of the basic features of the camera as can be had for free in most magazines on photography. The book has nothing on the basic operation of the camera. The title of "Learning the basics" is misleading. It is not a book for new camera owners wanting to "learn the basics". It is a review to serve as a guide for prospective camera buyers. Even as a review, it is outdated now: the initial model has been superseded by the Mark II model.
