Carol Danvers is my favorite super hero. Her current run as Captain Marvel (the male captain marvel died in the 80s and she has now taken on his title) is brilliant. Some of the storylines are intense and twisty and some of them are just plain fun! Captain Marvel is not only a superhero, she's a role model, a friend, and a great joy to read. I highly recommend this series.

I'm currently making my way through all the Captain Marvel and Kelly Sue Deconnick I can get my hands on and this was by far my favorite I've read so far. By the end you're really rooting for people you've never met and really cheering for their success. Nice cameo of GotG and also pretty cool when we get essentially a new GotG ft. Capt. Marvel. By the end you're in awe of just how cool Carol Danvers is.

Most people don't realize that Ms. Marvel replaced Captain Marvel a long time ago. Ms. Marvel went on to fight Rogue which is where Rogue got her super strength and flying ability. Shazam however is DC and very much unrelated.
