About this ebook

Vengeance keeps ’Topian Edwin Mysk from surrendering to the pain of the destruction of his home world and the loss of the genmate he might have had. One day the Xeno Consortium will know his wrath. Until then, he will pursue his self-imposed mission to locate and reunite the massacre survivors.

When he lands on Laxiter 4, he finds the ’Topian settlement abandoned, except for a lone woman. Lala. Their immediate, intense bonding proves she’s his genmate, the one female his genetics have chosen for him—the one he’d believed lost forever. With Lala at his side, he resumes his search for the others.

But Lala is not the ’Topian he thinks she is. She’s a shapeshifting Xeno, a disgraced former general in the consortium military wrongly convicted of helping ’Topian insurgents escape annihilation. Edwin Mysk offers her best chance to locate the escapees and receive a stay of execution—as long as he doesn’t discover her secret.

Will the gulf between hatred and love, despair and desire, prove too wide for them to cross? Is their genmate bond a tragic mistake?

Lala and Mysk’s romance spans three books: Genmate Mistaken, Genmate Forsaken, and Genmate Imperiled. An HEA is guaranteed at the end of Genmate Imperiled.

HATE IS EASY—LOVE TAKES COURAGE The Genmate series is a spin-off from the Castaway series, and if you haven’t read it, you should. We met Mysk, one of the aliens, to escape when their planet was destroyed. While in the Castaway series, many found their genmate, but so far, Mysk and several others haven’t. The decision to travel the Galaxy was made, searching for other Topian survivors. A word of warning—the first book in this trilogy does end on a cliffhanger. On the plus side, book two, Genmate Forsaken, releases on February 2nd, and book three, Genmate Imperiled, releases on February 28th, 2022. So you won’t have to wait long. Mysk and several other Topians have decided to leave Earth and travel the Galaxy, searching for other Topian survivors. When they get to the first location, Laxiter 4, it is right before a fierce thunderstorm and solar flares. Mysk won’t have the use of electronics during the events and will have to rely on himself and a few Earth items. “I’d rather die fighting than hiding.” “The first Xeno he came face-to-face with was a dead Xeno.” Lala was a General in the consortium military. Her family was of the elite until her brother, Chameleon; a former High Council member aided the Topians in escaping. Because of Chameleon’s deeds, the entire family is considered guilty of treason, Lala loses her commission and is sent to the planet, and the family’s history has been eradicated from the books. But now, the High Council is giving her a second chance, rather than execution. She is to travel to possible planets and locate the Topians to be destroyed. “Veritals wiped minds; Xenos erased databases. Perhaps the two races weren’t that different.” The story’s plot will have Mysk, and fellow Topian’s on the ship Intrepid heading to Laxiter 4 in hopes of finding more Topians who escaped. He will take a pod to the planet’s surface and try and locate the citizens—but readings only show a lone woman. “We’re experiencing a perfect storm of interference. However, I’m fairly certain there is a lone woman on the planet, and she is probably Topian.” The story will have Mysk and Lala meeting, but she has changed her form from Xeno. She needs to know why a Topian is here and where the others are. She is on a mission from Xeno’s High Council to locate the escaped Topians so they can be destroyed. What happens when Mysk and Lala meet is a surprise to him—his genmate. “Nobody can expect it. One can’t anticipate when one will meet a genmate; it just happens.” The story is a sci-fi alien mystery with plenty of secrets and suspense. Mysk has such a hatred of the Xeno Consortium and how they destroyed an entire planet of lives, including his sister. Lala is Xeno and doesn’t understand why her brother aided the enemy. But, she has watched the vids, and things don’t add up; the Topians were happy people, they didn’t appear a threat to Xenos. What will happen when two races meet and feel a strong connection? Mysk has dreamed of finding his genmate, and Lala was raised with different principles. Will these two find a connection until the deception is revealed? Mysk: I’m looking forward to tonight. I can’t wait until we unite, body, mind, and soul.” Lala: Who says you needed to wait? Mysk: I’ve waited my whole life for you. “Lala stood naked but cloaked by her personification. She was a thief, stealing emotions meant for another—the woman he thought she was. He would not gaze at her with such adoration and desire if he knew her true identity. Please let me have one perfect night. Let me show him my love so he’ll remember later. Please let our bond be stronger than his hatred when he discovers the truth.” “To be. To experience. To feel.” “This is what was meant to be—this union, this mating, this bonding.” Lala: Are you—disappointed we didn’t merge minds? Mysk: I will wait until you’re ready. I would wait a lifetime for you. As it used to say at the end of the cartoon---That’s all, folks! In three weeks, book #2.

An offshoot of the "Alien Castaways" series, it's time to really get to know a certain Mysk! Mysk has been masquerading as a human for the last 50 years, awaiting the arrival of his fellow 'Topian refugees. Now that the newcomers are all settled with their Genmates it is time for the intrepid crew to blast off into the stars and try to find their remaining refugees - hoping against hope that some of them will turn out to be Genmates. There's a bit of break-my-mind-physics but Mysk and the crew arrive only a short time after their escape. There are only so many nearby candidates for the refugees and they head off to the likely candidate but they aren't the only ones looking for the refugees. Lala is Chameleons sister, both thinking the other is dead. Now that her brothers treason has come to light she has been stripped of her command and left to rot on the planet surface. But the council have not hey finished heaping indignities on Lala. They'll use her to trace the others who escaped and then kill her as planned. When she and Mysk finally meet he rapidly becomes aware that she is his genmate but doesn't want to rush her into anything, little knowing that his shy verital genmate is actually a Xeno! Lala and Mysk are a great match but there are going to be tears of anger and sadness before these two cement their union! Fast-paced, full of action-adventure and some hawt chemistry. This is more of a HFN than HEA as their story continues over the trilogy of books. Roll on book 2!

First off I hate cliffhangers, and this book has a big one. The storyline is entertaining and the Xeno have a really strange concept of guilty by association (family association). Mysk and Lala have a great chemistry between them, but secrets abound. I really can't wait for the next book in this series. I received this book, as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
