Rianna is a loyal friend, willing to do the unthinkable for her friend as well as her gov't. She soon finds out that sentiment is one way. K'ev does not think much of humans based on what his father has drummed in his head and actions of the humans. Despite this he still has a fond memory of a young girl and has study human ways. Deception reunites the two and sparks a flame. The begin to build trust while evil plans await to commence, unbeknownst to them. There is intrigue along with romance in this story. I like being privy to what the dragon says to his host. This was an interesting romance novel.

SHE HAS FYRE—WE ARE ONE Following the prequel, it is now fifteen years later from the visit of Prince K’ev of Dracon to Earth. Relations have deteriorated with broken agreements, and King K’rah has summons K’ev to inform him he will have a human consort, and the agreement with Earth will be the president’s daughter, Helena. A little bit about Draconians, they can smell fear and lies, among other things. During K’ev visit to Earth, he disliked the smell of humans and their lies. “I don’t like it any better than you do, but it has been suggested a more intimate, personal relationship between a member of the royal family and a human might foster détente between Draco and Earth and restore an alliance.” –King K’rah to K’ev The plot will have Helena and her best friend from college, Rhianna, to meet the Draconian envoy and traveling to Dracon together, but deceit will have Helena trying to convince the minister of the royal court that Rhianna is the president’s daughter and then abandoning her. But fooling K’ev won’t be that easy, he can smell her lies. Before Rhianna knows what’s happening, Helena leaves the ship, and they are leaving Earth heading into space. It doesn’t take long for K’ev to uncover that maybe she was duped by her own people. Now, a change in course will have them going to the planet Elementa—one that Dracon had claimed and Earth has started to colonize. Will seeing it help Rhianna learn the truth? “A Draconian requires three things: treasure, truth, and fyre.” What is happening to K’ev and his dragon? The dragon is calling Rhianna his mate—that can’t be; she has no fyre. “We are two, and we are one. Different and same.” –K’ev explaining his dragon to Rhianna “She has fyre. We are one.” –his dragon to K’ev “The duality of being dragon and man, separate yet the same, boggled her mind like a religious koan.” The story has plenty of mystery, suspense, betrayal, lies, secrets, and angst. The time together between K’ev and Rhianna brings them closer, especially with his dragon screaming that she is their mate, they must protect her. Showing her what her people have done, and then learning she is used as a scapegoat with a nefarious plot doesn’t help. What is the future of Earth—is a war coming next? Now that mating has taken place, their fyre grows stronger. The death of a mate is harmful to any Draconian. “Your screams of pleasure will be all the music I need. This won’t be sex,” he said. “We will mate. Our fyres will join as one.” The story will have many twists and turns, and just when things between them have them planning their future—a message will alter their fate. Will K’ev ever trust Rhianna again? Did she betray him? What will become of their future? The story is a roller-coaster ride of two mates caught between planets disagreements. One has family and friends on Earth that could face annihilation, and the other is the son of a King who is ready to declare war. It will take a wise woman to make a difference and turn this tale around. The story has mild sex scenes. I can’t wait to read the next story, Line of Fyre that will have Helena Marshfield and Prince T’mar.
