About the author

Carl Phillip Gottfried (or Gottlieb) von Clausewitz (1780-1831) was a Prussian soldier and intellectual. His writings and book "On War," expounded the philosophy of war and had enormous effect on military strategy, and remain essential reading for all interested in military history and national security.
