This is the second book in Carrie Ann Ryan's MONTGOMERY INK LEGACY series; focusing on Lake Montgomery, daughter of Liam and Arden Montgomery (from WRAPPED IN INK). This book seemed softer and gentler to me some how, as we got to see these characters, who had grown up together, find their way. However, there was still plenty of intrigue and angst as well as chemistry. And the conclusion of the book will leave you stunned and gripped ready for the next instalment (tissues recommended).

This story is all sorts of emotions tangled together. Nick and Lake have a history together as sort of friends and business partners, though they fight a lot which is really just unrequited feelings. Nick has seen Lake at her worst and he is the first one to step up when she needs a friend, but their trip away soon turns into more than either of them expected. They have to deal with a lot of emotional baggage and life throws more twists and turns their way but they become stronger together.

Lake and Nick were too perfect together. Both, extremely cautious. Both, harbouring deep set, valid, fears. Both, struggling to imagine how they fit into their lives. Because of all this, it takes a bit to get them together, then a bit more to get them into a relationship. The saving grace for them is that they have known each other all their lives, so they have context and backgrounds on their side. Once they commit, they are better than peas and carrots together <3
