This book was absolutely one of the most frustrating books I have ever read. The editing was poor, the characters were under developed and the storyline left much to be wanted. I have now read it twice, hoping I was just in a bad mood the first time around, but noooope.
First of all, who would dare to have a heroine so sorry and pitiful, unable to stand up for herself to her mother, her boss, her sister, or even just stand for the truth? She allows everyone to take full advantage of her and then says it is all in "God's" will. Second, who actually believes that sitting around internally complaining about your life while not actively seeking to fix it allows you to land a dream job and dream life? No one.
The only character I liked was that of Freddie, and Tracey's portrayal of gay men seemed to be one of someone who watched too much Will & Grace without understanding what a true "gay boyfriend" is like from firsthand experience.
The fact that she has Rush mentioned in the novel just proves that she is a tad bit crazy. The idea of a Christian soap star is not even a big stretch - they exist! And none of them are as ridiculous, self righteous, or pitiful as Tabby Brockman. This is the last time I will ever pick up a Tracey Bateman book.
