Catriona Ward's The Last House on Needless Street is a shocking and immersive read perfect for fans of Gone Girl and The Haunting of Hill House.

In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three.

A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time.
A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory.
And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible.

An unspeakable secret binds them together, but when a new neighbor moves in next door, what is buried out among the birch trees may come back to haunt them all.

“The new face of literary dark fiction.” —Sarah Pinborough

Propulsive and mind-blowing, The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward is a novel that might challenge even the best puzzlers and most jaded mystery fans. Narrated by several characters, the basic premise is to figure out the circumstances surrounding a young girl’s disappearance eleven years ago. Ward pulls her willing readers along for a very curvy ride. Some may experience a sense of exhilaration while others might just end up feeling dizzy. Certainly, most will turn back to page one and reread it with greater understanding. No more can be said without spoiling The Last House on Needless Street. Do yourself a favor—stop reading reviews now and go read this book. The less you know going in, the better. Thanks to the author, Viper and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

Wow. Many books are promoted as psycholigical thrillers that are neither psychological or thrillers. This novel delivers on both accounts. I don't want to say much as I don't want to provide any spoilers, just know that there is something array at the House at the End of Needless Street and you will enjoy finding out just what is the problem.
