About the Warlocks MacGregor® Series

People know magic is fake--card tricks and illusions, magicians and entertainers. But there is an older magick, a powerful force hidden from modern eyes, buried in folklore and myths, remembered by the few who practice the old ways and respect the lessons of past generations.

The term "warlock" is a variation on the Old English word waerloga, primarily used by the Scots. It meant traitor, monster or deceiver. This fiction-based family includes males and females of magick. The MacGregors do not agree with how history has labeled them, or other supernaturals. To them, warlock means magick, family, and immortality. DNFed — While this author has been around for a while, I've only recently started reading her books. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Intergalactic Dating Agency series as well as the Space Lords series. I had hoped to continue that streak. Unfortunately, I was not wild about this book in a series about a long-living Scottish warlock family. It just didn't hit the solid notes for me as the other series’ books did. I kept plowing along for a while, but it just didn't do it for me at all. It was silly at times, but not funny. And I never did warm up to the heroine as she seemed a bit more of a basket case than I like to read about. The flashbacks to 1960s Vegas, where she and the hero met, left me cold... and didn't make me care enough to keep reading when I didn't like the heroine to begin with. I ended up DNFing the book after reading about a third of it. — I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

She may be the only girl and her magic can be a bit...iffy, but she is centuries old dammit! She will admit to having a rotten taste in men..for illustration see her last boyfriend who turned out to be a demon, who she helped kill. Pity the whole "killing" didn't stick and now he is out for revenge! He unleashes some of the worst (but absolutely hilarious) luck on the clan. They are invaded and turfed out of their own home! Dar makes his presence known and the truth behind Malina's foggy memories of him, her own self esteem when it comes to magic and why she feels inexplicably drawn to someone her family should be vanquishing - not canoodling with! This clan is a hoot! I can neither confirm nor deny that some of these characters might be based on loony relatives of mine LOL! We don't do cavorting in the moonlight though - too damn cold here! Gimme more!!!

Malina and Dar's Story . . . You will enjoy this book that will keep you laughing. Malina MacGregor is the only female of the MacGregor cousins and was not raised with the clan. She was sent away to keep her safe during the time of the witch hunts. She had made mistakes along the way, so the family acts as if she is inexperienced and needing their smothering protection. One of the mistakes was falling for the Luck Demon Darragh “Dar” Lahey in Las Vegas. He fell in love with her a long time ago, and she tried to kill him. He wants revenge, starting with her family. But he still loves her. Will he still demand justice for her betrayal? Or will the two of them get back together somehow?
