关于此电子书

Today, fisheries biologists fear coho salmon face extinction along the Central Coast of California. Is extinction inevitable or can we recover their populations in time?

By their nature, coho are reclusive. They enter their streams to spawn when the flows run high and off-color. They prefer the cover of darkness to move upstream and typically build their redds in the most remote stretch of a coastal stream. They spook easy and rarely are seem in their element. Avoiding public awareness seems to be by choice, but their long term survival looks dire without greater awareness on our part.

作者简介

My name is Michael Carl and I’m a freelance photographer and writer. Recently, I became curious about what was happening to coho salmon near my home along the San Mateo coast. My curiosity has since led me to places like the Kingfisher Flat Hatchery at Big Creek and Redwood Creek at Muir Woods National Monument.

Through words and pictures this book tells their story. The book takes a timely and unique look at coho along the central coast of California - with the clear goal of raising public awareness in their fight against the increasing odds of extinction.

My writing and photography have been published in American Angler, Bay Nature, Northwest Fly Fishing, Salmon & Steelhead Journal, Southwest Fly Fishing, and TROUT.
