Well written but I had lots of issues with it. Jason and rachel didn't end up together. Too many characters died. Jasons role wasn't as crucial as it could have been. And some other minor things.

I enjoyed the whole Beyonders trilogy. Brandon Mull has a real knack for doing the unexpected. I love his ability to imagine the obvious choice and then do something different.

Basically did not liked the first 3 books because I LOVED THEM! Just great story telling. Would like to have some sequel to this series where Jason becomes a corrupt king and Rachel magics her way back to Lyrian. Something like that just to spice things up. All in all I admire all the books from Fablehaven to Five Kingdoms. Still hyped about the upcoming installment to 5 Kingdoms and the dawn of Dragonwatch. More power. God bless you
