The only thing I hate about series like this is that you just refuse to let your hero be competent. I don't understand why you have to make them dumb. I don't care how nervous a character is, they wouldn't say something that STUPID. I have to skip ahead a few pages and hope I don't miss anything important when that happens. But otherwise, it's a good power fantasy novel. Love those, love the setup, love the world building. Just stop being cringe.
