About this ebook

What if life is built on the wrong foundation?

Kheti and his family have farmed papyrus along the Nile for generations. Kheti is confident the gods of Egypt and the harmony maintained by the divine Pharaoh are the sources of his prosperity. Then he watches his beloved river turn to blood, his crops fail, and his nation descend into chaos.

The Hebrew God wants his people released from slavery.

When the gods remain silent and Pharaoh is powerless to stop the carnage, Kheti wrestles with which way to turn. Replant his flattened crops and cling to Egypt’s gods? Or forsake his roots to follow new friends and a new faith to a distant land?

Could there be a place in God’s family for an Egyptian who kept God's people as slaves?

Book 2 in the Light of Nations series.

Another stellar novel by Christine Dillon! Though I've read a few fictional accounts of the Exodus, this one was truly brought to life as we saw the plagues through an Egyptian who came to recognize the power of the Hebrew God and the impotence of the gods he'd seen all of his life. This book was filled with good character development and well-defined and likable characters - both main characters and side characters. Highly recommend!

With vivid descriptions, Christine Dillon retells this historical story, a pivotal moment for the Hebrew people teetering between bitter slavery and national freedom. Diving into the lives of the characters experiencing firsthand the awful plagues Egypt faced when the Pharaoh dared to say “no” to Adonai. Whether you are interested in Jewish history or you just enjoy a good story, this book is for you. Such a fun, fun read. You will be drawn into the lives of Kheti and his family.

A fabulous second novel by master storyteller Christine Dillon. She creates a gripping, emotional retelling of the biblical story of the Egyptians and Israelites living through a series of unbearable plagues. Yet through all, Pharaoh refuses to bow to the Israelite God. Despite being part of a series, this book stands alone and will suit a wide range of reader interests. I leave this review willingly, having been involved with the proof reading of this novel.
