A new slant the brilliant Djinn series! This series is set in sunny California with a new set of Djinn from the One Thousand. Leila Donovan is unsure why she is the only one to survive from her little group of survivors. She feels eyes on her at weird times and places and has evaded a close call or too with the Djinn. She knows the tales of the Djinn of old from her Persian grandparents but never gave them much credence. But sure enough they are back and have wreaked havoc on the world. Malik al-Mazin has made Leila his Chosen, if only to save her from the clutches of the manipulative suitor who had originally planned to take her. But his time is running out, if he doesn't get Leila to accept him by the end of the year, she will no longer have protected Chosen status and could be hunted down like the rest of the Immune! But first he has to catch the damn female before he can tempt her with safety and freedom as a Chosen! Leila is sure not going to go easy on Malik. She has lost, family, friends and an abortive acting career because of his kind. She finds it hard to accept his benevolent wish to protect her. But she is also intrigued by him and has more than a few clashes of conscience. But before she can make a definitive decision she is snatched from his palatial Malibu home by the very male who stood down from Malik's challenge for her, his reasoning being se was "not worthy" of the fight! Well written and intriguing new characters in a well established world! Fab!

And the saga continues in Christine Pope’s “Stolen” the first novel in the Djinn Dominion Series. It is a spin-off from the original Djinn Wars series but in a different location and with different characters. The Djinn are a powerfully race of beings that had been banished from Earth a millennia ago. They are now back with a vengeance setting forth a deadly disease killing all of mankind except for a few. Leila Donovan, our heroine, is running for her life and yet wonders why she hasn’t been affected by this plague. But there is one Djinn who is relentless in his pursue of Leila. Malik al-Mazin, had selected Leila as his Chosen and he is determined to have her accept that she will be his human partner. The story is excellent keeping the tempo high and engrossing. You are drawn into these characters having it feel very real with many twists to relationships. The storyline promises an intriguing journey holding your attention throughout. I loved all the original Djinn War series and Stolen does not disappoint because it is well written, insightful and full of surprises. As always, Christine Pope’s book is mesmerizing and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read more of this particular series. Great job Christine!!

Great start to a new series. Leila has been on the run since most of the population died from a virus that was unleashed by the Djinn in an effort to retake the planet. Malik has selected Leila as his “chosen” which has protected her, now if he can only catch her. The story moved along very nicely. I liked both characters and found their reactions realistic. This does work as a stand-alone but I’m anxious to see how the rest of the series plays out. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
