About this ebook

A single wish shatters her world. Fixing it could break her heart.

One phone call. That’s all it takes to throw Autumn Garnett’s future out of whack. She and Michael McAllister have an agreement: When he finishes his law degree, they’ll settle in her beloved Flagstaff. His decision to take a job in Jerome, of all places, is definitely not part of the plan.

Autumn knows better than to throw wishes around lightly. They tend to come true…permanently. But in a fit of anger, she flings the worst possible wish out into the universe.

I wish Michael and I had never met.

And the universe shifts.

More like shatters into pieces, re-forming into a timeline she barely recognizes. One where Michael is in love with someone else. And she can’t simply wish her way back into his heart. It’s going to take the one thing that, as the wheel of the year turns, is slipping through her fingers.

Time.

Wishful Thinking Are you ready for an adventure in Autumn’s alternative universe? Unfortunately the young Wilcox witch used he gift for the first time since yearly childhood, when it was first discovered, to bring on untold despair to herself. She fervently believes her only chance to turn her upside world right side up is to get Michael to declare his love for her(again!). In love, in Autumn’s “real” universe, she and Michael McAlistor, a warlock, are on the cusp of getting engaged. However, in a fit of anger, Autumn wishes she never met Michael. And is a sudden moment her universe shifts. In order to have never met Michael, time has to go back to the time before Angela and Conner united the two clans. So here we are celebrating the annual Wilcox holiday potluck at Damon’s and Angela’s home! It’s definitely an alternative universe! Autumn believes if she can meet Michael and she and lure him to fall in love with her once more and say those three important words everything will be right once more. In my opinion, that being a false assumption, I felt that Michael could do nothing to alter the set path, but it would have to Autumn that would have to change, reconsidering her selfish motives that induced her anger. With this self-evaluation, perhaps she will find a solution to achieving her most fervent, unsaid wish and dream. A most engaging theme in this cleverly written plot, Pope has an artful way of weaving our old friends, Rachael, Conner, Angela and even, Roselyn, the witch that died at the hands of Marcus in the Escobar debacle. When Autumn sees her performing, she is confronted with the knowledge that she will no longer be alive, when she returns to her “real life.” The dialogue between her and Rachael, where she is living as a De La Paz witch recovering from bad breakup as most interesting. Of course, Rachel is privy to what Autumn is trying to accomplish. I know my pulse increased when Damon shoes up on Rachael’s doorstep to try to bring her back to Flagstaff. But, Pope gave Autumn remarkable courage to stand up to him and as Racheal declared earlier in the book, to know just what to say when it situation warranted it. This is my absolute favorite of all the paranormal witches’ tales born of Popes fertile imagination. I got it the day before my husband and I were getting ready to leave for our annual post-Labor RV journey. I wound up finishing it at 3 AM, hours before hitting the road. Congratulations Christine on another great read. I will miss the witches from the southwest. How about another witchy series taking place in the northwest .. ever hear of the very haunted Port Gamble?

This book continues the Witches of Wheeler Park series with the story of Autumn Garnett and Michael McAllister and their romance and relationship. For Autumn, the advice to be careful what you wish for is especially relevant - her wishes come true. This book follows her desperate attempt to reverse the wish she inadvertently made that she had never met Michael and to restore the world as it was before her ill-advised and greatly regretted wish. It's a fascinating exploration of an alternate reality that shouldn't exist and how history is changed by seemingly minor events. The relationship tension is unique, since in the alternate reality. Autumn remembers their romance and relationship but Michael does not. Her efforts to rekindle the romance in the hope of somehow reversing her wish, without scaring Michael away by seeming stalky, needy, or weird, make up the majority of the very pleasant story.

Autumn's talent has been kept under wraps by her parents for a very good reason. Let everyone think she only has the minor talents that all witches have. If they knew she could "Wish" things - she'd be hounded constantly. She has always been very, very careful not to utter those dreaded words but when her longed-for long-term plans with her boyfriend deviate from her carefully constructed plan, anger makes her do something she never would - she wishes! Once her wishes take effect there is no going back. But it's not only her and Michael she has affected - but her wider clan including her Prime have also been affected and now a diabolical figure from the past is back! Jerome, as usual, is its colourful self and I must admit I've googled it and fell in love with it. I'd move there in a flash LOL. This story is almost like a modern-day retelling of the Jimmy Stewart movie - It's a Wonderful Life. Always be careful what you crave as the grass is never as green as it looks on the other side - it could always be hiding a terrible fate. Autumn has to learn quickly that her plans are not set in stone and she's going to have to learn to adapt if she wants Michael (and her family) back in their proper places. Great story.
