Invitation to the Duke's Ball -- This was my favorite story in this collection. I enjoy Virginia Heath's writing and humor very much, and this story was an excellent example of why I read her work. Eliza has been dragged to a house party as a companion to an older family member. She can hardly stand the tedium and longs for a book. She heads to the library and starts a crazy chain of events. Eliza and Marcus have the best conversations, and the secondary characters add depth and fun to the story. I laughed all the way through it! Also, the use of color through the story is expecially inventive. A Midnight Mistletoe Kiss -- Bless Tom's heart, he has no idea what he is looking for in life. He is completely blindsided by Nell and her warm heart. He struggles to change his course, but true love wins in the end.

About the author

Georgette Heyer novels formed Sophia James’s reading tastes as a teenager. But her writing life only started when she was given a pile of Mills & Boons to read after she had had her wisdom teeth extracted! Filled with strong painkillers she imagined that she could pen one, too. Many drafts later Sophia thinks she has the perfect job writing for Harlequin Historical as well as taking art tours to Europe with her husband, who is a painter. When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. But it still takes her ages to fall asleep.Catherine Tinley is an award-winning writer of witty, heartwarming Regency love stories. Her first novel, Waltzing with the Earl, won the prestigious Rita(R) Award for Best Historical Romance 2018. She lives in Ireland with her family and can be reached at www.CatherineTinley.com and on social media.
