I know what most people think when they hear that the main character of this book is a vampire. "Omg, another Twilight." I don't blame you; with the whole vampire craze that's been going on, why would this book be any different? Well, it is. This book isn't your average vampire+human mushy gushy love story. On the contrary, it's the total opposite. A theme that one might notice would be the reoccurring themes of Sita's (the main character) conquest to become a little "human" again. One of the things I love about this book is that Pike incorporates so many different aspects of religion into the storyline. It just makes it so much more interesting with the religious historical add-ons such as the story of Krishna and Arjuna and how Pike made it seem like Sita and Yaksha were actually there. One of the things I don't really enjoy though would have to be that the story does indeed drag on at times. (There was a couple pages just talking about Terri (Sita's human descendant) and her track runnings. And although this is might seem strange but I also don't enjoy how Pike makes Sita overly cocky and arrogant sometimes, but I guess that is understandable since she is a 5,000 years old vampire. Although one might still be able to enjoy this volume without reading the first two, there are some events that you might be missing out from the first two that lets you enjoy the third with more understanding. So I strongly recommend those interested in this book to read the first two first. -T.Vu

The first six books were and always have been my favorites since I was a kid but Sita just didn't seem the same to me and the villians of the story were a bit over the top, but it's a continuation of my favorite character Sita after over 10 years so I'm happy. It just didn't live up to the perfection that was 1-6 in the 90's. Don't get me wrong. Mr. Pike is by far my favorite author out there. Most of his books, even the teen novellas are almost enlightening to read but Thirst # 3 just wasnt the same.

About the author

Christopher Pike is a bestselling young adult novelist and has published several adult books as well—Sati and The Season of Passage being the most popular. In YA, his Last Vampire series—often called Thirst—is a big favorite among his fans. Pike was born in Brooklyn, New York, but grew up in Los Angeles.
