This book was well-written, but the story makes no sense at all. The author went into great detail about every little thing except for an explanation of what is happening and why.

Long lead up to a disappointing ending.

Christopher Priest is a leading figure in modern SF and fantasy. His novel The Islanders won both the BSFA Award and the John W. Campbell Award. The Separation won both the Arthur C. Clarke Award and the BSFA Award.
