About this ebook

A serious-minded duke and a vivacious young lady find their simple arrangement complicated by passion in this sexy Victorian romance.

Sebastian Fennick, the newest Duke of Wrexford, prefers the straightforwardness of mathematics to romantic nonsense. When he meets Lady Katherine Adderly at the first ball of the season, he finds her as disagreeable as she is alluring. His title may now require him to marry, but Sebastian can’t think of anyone less fit to be his wife, even if he can’t get her out of his mind.

After five seasons of snubbing suitors and making small talk, Lady Kitty has seen all the ton has to offer . . . and she’s not impressed. But when Kitty’s overbearing father demands she must marry before her beloved younger sister can, she proposes a plan to the handsome duke. Kitty’s schemes always seem to backfire, but she knows this one can’t go wrong. After all, she’s not the least bit tempted by Sebastian, is she?

After resisting five seasons of suitors, Lady Kathryn Adderly has driven the men of the ton and her parents crazy with her refusal to marry. But now that her father has decreed that her younger sister cannot marry before she does, Lady Kitty must change her strategy. Sebastian Fennick, the new Duke of Wrexford, would be considered a great catch, and his title now requires him to push past his old hurts and secure the title with an heir. His best friend and near brother wants to marry Kitty's sister, so Kitty cooks up a scheme that gets her parents to quit pressuring her to marry and quit standing in the way of her sister's marriage. All Sebastian must do is pretend to be engaged to Kitty. But what happens if they fall in love for real? Kitty and Sebastian's story evovlves along fairly predictable lines, however, her sister's romance and Sebastian's past resurfacing provide enough surprises to keep the story interesting. Kitty's foibles make her a lovable and more convincing heroine, and Sebastian's more staid and logical personality provides a great foil for her impulsive nature. Although I remembered Kitty and some of the minor characters from One Scandalous Kiss, this book would still have been great as s standalone novel.
