My name is Chase. I like to do two things. Party hard and f*ck women. That all changes when my father tells me to get my sh*t together or he won't give me his company. The easiest way to do that is get a wife. One I can control. So I pay for Jordan to come to America and be mine. The only problem? My decisions of the past come back to haunt me and my life is put in danger. My good looks and suave attitude won’t be able to keep me or Jordan safe when a drug kingpin comes after us. So if I want my fathers company I need to protect Jordan and make this go away. Sh*t.

Ratings and reviews

The four stars are a response to the multiple grammatical errors and my unwillingness to suspend disbelief. Neither one is a deal breaker but both are annoying enough to interrupt the smooth flow of reading. The grammar consists primarily of confusion of the verb forms of to lie (down) and to lay (down.) Lie forms are active; lay forms are passive. They do both use lay but lay is the past tense of to lie and the present tense of to lay. You cannot lay yourself down. I felt the ending was contrived. I just cannot believe the superior of the local kingpin would allow two Innocents to walk after experiencing interaction with such high level individuals. Outside of these bumps in the road, the book was well-written, the plot intricate and clearly developed, and the characters relatable and fully realized. I enjoyed it despite my usual distaste for reading crime novels.
