About this ebook

Striking a perfect balance between heartfelt emotions and spot-on humor, this debut features a pop-culture enthusiast protagonist with an unforgettable voice sure to resonate with readers.

Alice had her whole summer planned. Nonstop all-you-can-eat buffets while marathoning her favorite TV shows (best friends totally included) with the smallest dash of adulting—working at the library to pay her share of the rent. The only thing missing from her perfect plan? Her girlfriend (who ended things when Alice confessed she's asexual). Alice is done with dating—no thank you, do not pass go, stick a fork in her, done.

But then Alice meets Takumi and she can’t stop thinking about him or the rom com-grade romance feels she did not ask for (uncertainty, butterflies, and swoons, oh my!).

When her blissful summer takes an unexpected turn and Takumi becomes her knight with a shiny library-employee badge (close enough), Alice has to decide if she’s willing to risk their friendship for a love that might not be reciprocated—or understood.

Claire Kann’s debut novel Let’s Talk About Love, chosen by readers like you for Macmillan's young adult imprint Swoon Reads, gracefully explores the struggle with emerging adulthood and the complicated line between friendship and what it might mean to be something more.

3.5 stars — I absolutely loved the ace representation in this book, even if it isn’t the same flavour as what I experience. There were many moments where I understood what Alice was feeling, and I both hurt for her and was annoyed with her. On the surface, I feel like I totally should have connected with Alice, and not just because of the ace thing. She loves cute things and aesthetics, and is just kind of kooky and weird. But I just…didn’t. I mark this book as new adult just because I pers

I good but I wish I was a little longer to in More about an ace relationship Right, they finally got together and he accepted her which was cute. But were like the ups and Downs. And you know how they figured each other out while they were dating. I wish there was little more

There aren't a great deal of books (or any media for that matter) with good ace representation. This book does not fall in that category. I love Alice's character and can relate to her, as I am also bi, black, and nerd who does a lot of internal processing (and panicking). Nothing about her character seems forced and sometimes it feels like I'm looking into a mirror. Even if you aren't ace, this book can give you an accurate idea of what it's like to be ace. And you would owe it to yourself to do so.
