About this ebook

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa pens a fun and sexy romantic comedy where playing pretend turns to playing for keeps…

We have to pretend that what we have is something like love…

I’m down on my luck.

Scratch that. This is the worst week of my life.

Enter the last person I want to deal with: Burke St. James.

He’s wealthy.

He’s a womanizer.

And a big liar.

And it turns out we need each other.

Burke needs a fiancée to seal the deal of a lifetime. I need help or my business is going belly-up. So, Burke very non-romantically asks me to marry him. Well, he asks me to be fake engaged to him, anyway.

I’ll attend a few dinners, pretend I’m in love, and meet the family.

In exchange, he’ll let me stay in his house, invest in my company, and help me launch it off the ground.

All is easy, except his kisses feel more real than they should.

And the sex…damn, we’re not supposed to have sex.

It’s all for show…right?

Did I mention he’s a really good liar?

Pretending not to fall in love is more complicated than I thought.

Something Like Love by Claudia Burgoa, book two in her Against All Odds: St. James Family series, is a snarky and wonderful enemies to lovers rom com with hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another that was a rollercoaster of emotions. Chloe Lafferty and Burke St James met at a wedding sharing an insta- attraction and chemistry but by the end of the night Chloe has distanced herself and is downright frosty. Burke doesn't do relationships or commitments after watching his parents tear each other apart which turned him into a womanizer and skeptic regarding love. Returning from catering an event, Chloe finds her world in shambles thanks to Burke St. James’ best friend, who also happens to be her housemate, Maddox. At the same time Burke finds himself also betrayed by Maddox just when he learns he needs a fiancée if he has any chance of completing the deal of his life. Discovering what happened to Chloe, Burke offers to help her, but only if she will agree to be his fake fiancée to help him buy a winery, but living and working in close proximity means the attraction is still there; getting harder and harder to ignore. Chloe believes in love and happily ever and has no idea how to break through the walls Burke has built around his heart. The more time that these two spend together the fake starts to feel real, making them wonder if they come out of this arrangement unhurt. Their journey is a wonderful blend of emotions, swoon worthy moments and passion. The emotional, magnetic, and sizzling chemistry between them is perfect. Their banter is flirtatious and snarky. The interactions between Burke, Chloe and his meddling family were laugh-out-loud, priceless. You can’t help but cheer Burke and Chloe on, hoping this fake arrangement can turn into a real one; providing for a happy ending; one they definitely deserve. I highly recommend Something Like Love to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

5 Star review of Something Like Love (Against All Odds: The St James Family #2) by Claudia Burgoa Having read the first book in Claudia Burgoa’s latest series I could not wait to jump in and read Something Like Love. I was hooked on the story she wove from the first chapter. Something Like Love was well written with characters that you cannot help but fall for. Burke St James needs a fiancee if he has any chance of completing the deal of his life. That’s when he suggests a fake marriage to Chloe Lafferty, a woman he has a love/hate relationship with. Chloe is a chef who desperately wants to own her own catering business, after being betrayed by their mutual friend, Maddox and since Burke can help her achieve her dream, she agrees to pose as his fiancee. I really liked Burke, he may come off as a wealth playboy but there is something about him that ticked the boxes for me. I liked Chloe, she is determined, feisty and driven. Burke sees this as an opportunity to close the deal and pursue Chloe at the same time. However we all know that the best laid plans can go awry and that is what happens when emotions and feelings become involved. It was entertaining to watch the push and pull of their relationship as it developed. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I absolutely loved this Opposites attract, fake relationship romance. It was so addicting I couldn't put it down, and has become one of my favorite books of the year! This sizzling romcom has it all. A yummy hot, arrogant billionaire hero, a lovable heroine with a sassy attitude, fun banter, and a rich, heartfelt story with lots of steam. Something Like Love completely captivated me from the start. Burke St. James and Chloe Lafferty meet at a beautiful romantic vineyard wedding. They were there as observers and had totally opposite views of the event and location. Chloe saw it as a magical place where true love exists and Burke sees romance thru a jaded lens as a lie that hurts you. They are still attracted to each other and enjoy their banter. But something happens and they go their separate ways. Now a year later they have been horribly betrayed, and even though they have extreme misconceptions about each other, they are forced to work together and pretend they are engaged and in love. They are total opposites who work so beautifully together. Burke helps Chloe find her confidence and passion for her business, while Chloe helps Burke overcome some of his own demons from his past. They work so well together that it soon becomes hard to tell what is real and what is fantasy. What happens when they break their own rules and their hearts become involved? I loved the chemistry between Burke and Chloe, they connected instantly, really seeing and understanding each other. I loved their little quirks, their fun banter, and their sizzling passion was off the charts! They had me totally swooning and rooting for their HEA! This is a funny, genuine, and all-consuming romance that will have you holding your breath as these two wonderful people start to find themselves and each other. I loved getting to know the rest of the St. James family. They are unique in their own way, and they are so close, loving and supportive, and their sibling banter is hilarious! You don't want to miss this funny, heartfelt, sweet & steamy romance!
