Enthusiasm for aviation exploded after Charles Lindberghs solo flight across the Atlantic in May 1927. Employed as an educator for more than 20 years, Thomas G. Matowitz Jr. is a licensed pilot with a lifelong interest in aviation history. He currently flies a restored Piper L-4J, a liaison plane that saw combat in Italy during the final days of World War II.
