This fast-paced romantic suspense hooked me right from the first page and kept me entertained until the very end. I love how this author creates likable, well-developed characters and mixes that right amount of action and suspense with romance and kindle-melting chemistry. Barrett is an exceptionally brilliant scientist who happens to be the niece of the president and her research has put her in the sights of some rather unsavory people. With her life on the line, the president turns towards retired secret service agent and current Jameson Force Security member, Cruce. Cruce is in full blown protective mode and sparks fly as these two find themselves in the cross hairs of someone who wants to steal Barrett’s free energy formula. Cruce is everything that I hoped for as a hero in that he is strong, sexy, and very protective of Barrett. He seems to really understand her and her hyper-focused mindset, but he also helps draw her out of her work bubble. I was concerned that with Barrett’s single-minded focus on work that she would be difficult to related to, but I was very wrong. She is an engaging heroine that is kind, highly intelligent, and comes to recognize through her time with Cruce that she is missing out on simply living life. The two of them are opposites and it was fun to watch their relationship evolve into something that went beyond client and bodyguard. This book has a fair amount of action and suspense which I loved and I also enjoyed seeing of the other members from Jameson Force Security. While this is book 2 in the series, Cruce and Barrett’s story can be read as a standalone. I received an early complimentary version of this book.

Code Name: Sentinel places the newest recruit to the Jamesons Security family into the spotlight. Cruce is a former secret service agent who is famous for saving the Presidents life. Having reached the pinnacle of his career he enters Jameson looking for a new direction only to get called back to his old life in order to protect the President’s niece, Barrett. Barrett is a total geek girl and workaholic; she was an orphan from a young age and raised by her uncle, who also happens to be the President. Of superior intelligence, Barrett’s life revolves around her work to make the world a better place by creating a means of free energy. Something someone somewhere either wants to stop or own for themselves, placing Barrett in danger. There are sparks between Barrett and Cruce from the beginning but more than that there is a tenderness of emotion that takes them both by surprise. Forced into close confines there is no stopping the chemistry exploding between Barrett and Cruce. I adored the way in which Cruce took care of Barrett, forcing her to have a life outside of her work. The suspense is as fast-paced as the romance with a few surprises thrown in just to add to the tension. My favourite thing is the way in which finding your soul-mate happens in the most unusual of circumstances and takes the characters completely by surprise. Each character in the Jameson Security family is utterly intriguing with snippets of their backstories making their way into the narrative ensuring a large investment into the series in order to know more about each of them.

This series about the Jameson Force Group is turning into a fast favorite. Each member has special qualities they bring to the table to assist on missions. Every new edition, I seem to love them even more. Cruce Britton had a successful career with the Secret Service and has now joined Kynan and his team in Pittsburgh. He knows people in high places, so when the President asks for a meeting, he and Kynan make their way to DC and see what their services are needed for. President Alexander’s niece is in danger and he wants the best man to protect her. Cruce has formed a trusting relationship with him, and there is no better man to handle this delicate situation. What starts out as a small threat, escalates quickly with no other option but to go off the grid. Barrett Alexander is a genius. She has multiple degrees including two PhDs, so to say she’s smart is an understatement and she is now working on a top secret project for the government. She is one of those characters that is oblivious to what’s happening around her and concentrates on her job solely. She needs Cruce to protect her but she also learns he can teach her a thing or two in relaxing! Among other activities to fill in the time they spend together. This story begins with some anxious tension, leads into sexual tension and then flips into a fast paced mission. Cruce is definitely one to have on your team. He is very dependable and capable of getting a job done right the first time. His devotion for Barrett was adorable. She was super sweet too. I loved her smarts and her tremendous strength in hanging in there. She just needs to believe in miracles and other’s abilities. This book is an excellent addition to the collection and I’m happy to know there are two more books to come.
