I'd never read Common Sense before and chose to do so on July the Fourth. It was a wonderful reminder of our nation's history and I'm better off knowing more of it.

Thomas Paine (1737–1809) was a political activist and philosopher best known as the author of Common Sense. The popularity and significance of that pamphlet and his other writings, including The American Crisis, have led historians to call him the Father of the American Revolution.
