She is a former editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, was Etymologies Editor for the Shorter Oxford Dictionary (6th ed., 2007), and was section editor for the ‘Languages of the World’ section in Encyclopedia of Language and Linguistics (2nd ed., Elsevier, 2006)
