Escort by Skye Warren This was a sweet, slow burn with a misty overlay of temptation swirling around it. This isn't a dark read, this isn't sugary sweet read, this is all about the temptation, the pleasure, the aniticpation, and the thrill. It has sexy moments, and they will burn you, but it has so much more Hugo loves, like, loves women. Their shapes, their thrills, and making them want him. Good thing, he is an escort after, one of the most demanded in Tanglewood. He has done so well for himself that he now only works one night a week, Saturday. He has been an escort for a lot of years, since his madam picked him up off the streets in his mid-teens, and that gives him some freedom now that his bank account is cushy. Nobody has ever made him feel though, it has always only been about the sex, until Bea Bea doesn't leave the hotel she has lived in since she was 10. Her guardian makes sure she has everything she needs, but human contact is minimal, her choice. The world is a scary place, so it easier to stay inside, it is a hotel afterall, and it caters to her every need except one. Bea needs to have sex, so hiring it to come to her seems like the easiest choice to make, until she meets Hugo and he wants to bring her pleasure Both of these characters are extremely likable, both are extremely sweet to each other, and they are perfectly matched. The build up to the sex, the build up to the relationship, and the build up to them being together was a slow climb, that plateaued, rather than dropped off. Just a thrilling of a ride, but the journey was the excitement

What a spectacular collection of romance stories by nine very talented authors! Here are my thoughts on what I've read so far and can'e wait to read the rest! ~ SOMETHING IN THE WAY by Jessica Hawkins This poignant and touching love story is not your ordinary romance. It is a forbidden tale about Star-crossed lovers and their epic love for each other. It starts at the beginning when a 16 yr. old Lake Kaplan first meets mysterious and rugged, Manning Sutter. Lake has always done what she is told and still idolizes her father. He wants great things for her, so she is totally focused on achieving those goals. Lakes older sister, Tiffany, is rebellious, wild and carefree. She sees Lake talking to Manning and decides that he will be her next conquest. Manning is a flawed and broken hero who works hard and wants to be better. Something about Lake calls to him and he is torn by his need to protect her and stirrings of feelings he doesn't want to acknowledge. Lake has never thought about love and lust, like her sister, but Manning causes sensations to surface that she doesn't quite know how do handle. She does know that they have a special connection and they grow to genuinely care for each other. But there are those that would not understand their friendship and it is dangerous for both of them. I really cared for all the characters, even tho they would frustrate me at times, they were well developed and honest. The story line was so engaging I couldn't put it down. This is a moving and emotional story of love, redemption, trust, sacrifice, and consequences. It brought out so many extreme emotions and I loved every minute of it! I did not see the twist this would take and it left me stunned! I can't wait for the next book! ~ CONSOLATION by Corinne Michaels This is the first book in Corinne Michael's Consolation Duet and the third book in her Salvation Series. In the first books we met Aaron & Natalie (Lee) Gilcher. Aaron worked for Jackson Cole and was killed by an IED on a trip to Afghanistan. Natalie was pregnant at the time and had her baby, Arabelle, by the time they were able to bury his remains, 3 months later. Consolation picks up at this point. Natalie is struggling with the loss of her husband. He had retired from the SEALS and she had a false sense of safety from all the fear of loss she felt when he was deployed. Liam was like a brother to Aaron with an unbreakable bond and also a close friend to Natalie. In the following months Natalie was drowning in her grief for her husband and mourning the loss of her perfect marriage to a hero. Loneliness consumed her but she put on a facade for all her friends and family. Her daughter was the only reason she had to get out of bed in the morning and now was her whole world. No one could get through to her until Liam showed up on her door. He is now living close by and wants to be there for her in anyway he can. She tries to put up a front and push him away, but he reads her like a book and calls her out on her bullcrap. Liam just starts showing up and taking on the many tasks she is unable to do. He slowly becomes an integral part of her life, allowing her to smile, laugh, and start to live again. Liam has never had a serious girlfriend so he is surprised by his evolving feelings for Lee and Arabelle. Liam stuggles with these feelings especially sinse she is his best friends wife and his close friend for many years. Lee also struggles with the realization of her growing feelings, thinking it is too soon after Aarons death and Liam is still a SEAL so she could easily lose him too. But Liam stops fighting it and decides to convince her that they are meant to be. He is so patient with her struggles to make peace with Aaron's death and to finally love him and want a future with him. It is delightful to see Lee come out of her shell and blossom into the vibrant, fun loving young woman and mother she should be. This is a beautiful story of love and loss, loyalty and deception, happiness and heartache. Truths are revealed, and the struggles to heal and grow stronger are hard fought.

Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins There are so many thoughts running through my mind. Feelings and emotions I’m not sure I know how to express. I didn’t start this series when everyone else did. I’m glad I waited and had my friend, Bethany (love you girl), to hold my hand through the journey. She insisted that I read it, not because I didn’t want to, but because she knows me and what I can handle. I’m not always very good with angst (I’m wimpy) and you definitely get angst with this story. But, enough about me and back to this book and the series that you MUST READ. Like I said, I’m glad I waited because this book and series needs to be read slowly so that all the nuances of the story can be captured. Titles have meaning, so pay attention. It’s significant. Love should be a simple truth but because there are so many ways to love, it just isn’t. Finding the strength to do what’s presumed to be right is sometimes the wrong thing to do. Lake Kaplan and Manning Sutter shouldn’t have a connection. She’s 16 and he’s 23, but there’s just something that tethers them together. Her light to his dark. I can feel it in the words and descriptions Jessica Hawkins uses. It puts me there with them. Lake is young but wants to be seen as an adult although her actions sometime show just how young she is. Manning struggles with their undeniable connection, what’s seems to be wrong or forbidden, but really just can’t stop how Lake makes him feel. The goodness she gives him. I’ve highlighted so many passages. It’s not something I normally do. The story just evoked that kind of response from me. And there’s more than just Lake and Manning. Several other secondary characters play key roles in the movement of the story. Some I like, some I don’t. Something in the Way is so worth the journey. Take it, you won’t regret it. Now I need to grab my friend’s hand and jump into Somebody Else’s Sky.
