Some Problems But Would Be Good if You Have Crohn Disease The book actually contains more than what the title says, and I don't think that is necessarily a good thing. Before you get to anything about food in general for Crohn patients or Crohn-friendly recipes, there is quite a large section about Crohn disease itself, including a discussion of signs and symptoms. I don't know about you, but I would prefer my cookbook to be without mention of anal fissures and pictures of inflamed colons. Not exactly hunger-producing reading! Before you get to the 130 recipes, there is also a large section on information and tips about food and eating if you have Crohn disease. This kind of introductory material is definitely welcome in the cookbook like this. I found the chapter comparing some popular diets to what is best for Crohn's patients to be fascinating, though the author should have included some of the more popular ones like keto; except for Paleo, most of the other diets discussed are more obscure. For some reason, the author did not include the meal planning chapter with this front section. When a cookbook has both information and recipes, I like to see all the information together in one section. The recipes themselves are organized as are typical in a cookbook, like categories for breakfast, appetizers, and main courses. Unfortunately, the recipes themselves had the ingredients out of order compared to how they are listed in the directions, and I thought the directions were somewhat awkwardly written. The rest of the book suffers from this, too. I think the author is not a native speaker of English, so things aren’t always stated the way a native English speaker would expect. If you yourself have Crohn disease or cook for someone who does, you might find this informational cookbook to be of value to you. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
