I was locked up when my mother sent me the first 2 books. I could not put the book down. The only thing I did not like about the book series including the harden series was that I read them too fast and it left me counting down the days till the next books were coming. These books were being passed around the pod and there were a list of next people to read them. 600 pages of Harden series books were still too short. Amazing Books. I hope Netflix picks this story up and it becomes a series. Hope DJ Molles has say so on how it is filmed. I would be pissed if they screw this series up.

So I really enjoyed the description and the writing style of the book. The one thing that killed it for me was about 3rd of the way through an event that shook the story seemed so forced. #Spoiler Alert# I mean the fact that the kid in the bunker didn't notice the dog doing its business on the mat blows my mind. And if you saw the dog why take it outside. Plus you don't have a leash you don't know if you will lose it. And at that moment the bandits passed and noticed the kid, bull. It didn't flow well.

Couldn't have been more pleased. This series takes the overdone "zombie" trope and does something unique and fun with it. Just to be clear, the creatures in this book aren't really zombies, but they'll likely be labelled as such by some.

About the author

D.J. Molles has two published short stories, "Darkness" and "Survive," which won a short fiction contest through Writer's Digest. The Remaining series (The Remaining, The Remaining: Aftermath, The Remaining: Refugees and The Remaining: Fractured) are his first novels and have been met with overwhelming success. He lives in the southeast with his wife and two children.
