The Storyteller is an original book series of adventure and space exploration, which seems to answer the persistent, intriguing question present in us all: are we alone in the Universe? Are there other intelligent beings, other powerful civilizations out there? And if they are, then who or what are they? How do they look like? How are the worlds they create and inhabit, and how different are they from us?
This first book of The Storyteller series introduces a mysterious character that people call simply Arthur, Author, or the Holly One. Here is the first part of his story, including the story of his friends and loved ones.
All characters are warm and interesting, young and old, lively and full of joy. They find themselves in interesting circumstances, and they fight, struggle, succeed or fail to get out unharmed. The protagonists are either very powerful, or they are always in contact with powerful beings.
At a deeper level, embedded in the web of adventure, this book explores Life, Existence and the Universe, along with the way people, societies, and civilizations behave everywhere, forming this comprehensive, everlasting world that we experience today. Enjoy!
The most visible trace of the book is the interaction with very powerful beings, those who decide the fate of the Universe.
A stronger plot of the story relates to peoples behavior, being aliens or not, the specific way in which they react in various circumstances, always learning from their experience.
The Captain, Cathleen, takes her share of the action; she fails and succeeds throughout her adventures the way normal people do, and she learns to tame her emotions and instincts, to become more pragmatic, to cope with tougher, more demanding situations. She applies everything to her life, both on Starship Colonial and on Earth, and her achievements exceed her wildest expectations. However, her achievements are irrelevant if she does not fulfill the mission assigned to her by the people of Earth. Is her determination strong enough to fulfill it now, when she has everything she ever wanted?
Jack remains an interesting, puzzling character throughout the book, influencing unknowingly the life of many, accomplishing everything with the innocence of a child.
More characters emerge and develop from among the crew and colonists, and from the people of the worlds they encounter.
Throughout the book, and throughout this whole series, there is a hidden, consistent trace of liberation from ignorant stereotypes, cold prejudices, predetermined norms, and irrelevant ideals. As opposed to real life where the great majority of people live the way it is taught, some of the characters succeed in opening their eyes, grasping this way and understanding a wider truth. And yet at times bondage defeats freedom and they have to accept it helplessly, which makes for the credible, real, complex plot of the book. Enjoy!
When the alien enemies called the Vothriles ask for a secret meeting in deep space with Emil’s task force, everyone is suspicious. The warship Excalibur heads out to meet with the alien foes that no Terran yet understands. The Vothriles propose joining forces against an even greater common menace, a mysterious enemy code-named "Force Cantrithor".
No one knows if Force Cantrithor can be defeated, or if the Vothriles can be trusted. But it may not matter. How much longer can Emil hold it together, anyway?

All the official reports say that vampires are dead--extinct since the late ’80s, when FBI agent Arkeley defeated the last vampire in a fight that nearly killed him. But when state trooper Laura Caxton calls the FBI looking for help in the middle of the night, Arkeley is unsurprised to hear that it sounds like a vampire attack. He’s been expecting such a call to come eventually. Sure, it has been years since any signs of an attack, but Arkeley knows what most people don’t: there is one left. In an abandoned asylum she is rotting, plotting, and biding her time in a way that only the undead can.
Laura Caxton is out of her league on this case and more than a little afraid. Arkeley made it clear there is only one way out. The worst thing is the feeling that the vampires want more than just her blood. They want her for a reason, one she can’t guess; a reason her sphinxlike partner knows but won’t say; a reason she has to find out-or die trying.

Arkeley accepted the curse and is now a vampire himself. What’s worse, he’s the savviest vampire ever—he knows all the tricks better than anyone. Caxton is now faced with the task of destroying him. But Arkeley knows all her tactics too; after all, he taught them to her. Caxton realizes she must finish Arkeley before he succeeds in his quest to exterminate his own family, one member at a time.
