Dr D P Kothari, FIEEE, is currently the Chairman BOG, THDC, Uttarakhand and Honorary Adjunct Professor, VNIT Nagpur. He has held the positions of Director, IIT Delhi; Principal, VNIT Nagpur and Vice chancellor, VIT Vellore. Dr Kothari has co-authored/ authored more than 57 Engineering books and guided more than 52 PhD scholars. He has co-authored/authored more than 840 research papers. He has received 70 national and international awards. He has also delivered 42 NPTEL video lectures with more than 1 lakh hits! He has received several living legends and lifetime achievement awards. He has been the visiting professor in several international universities such as RMIT, Melbourne, Australia; University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand; Purdue University, USA and Imperial College, London. Dr Kothari has fifty years of teaching, research, and administrative experience. He is specialised in the fields of Optimal Hydrothermal Scheduling, Unit Commitment, Maintenance Scheduling, Energy Conservation (loss minimisation and voltage control), Power Quality and Energy System Planning and Modelling.
I J Nagrath (Late) was Adjunct Professor, BITS Pilani, from where he retired in July 1999 as Deputy Director and Professor of Electrical Engineering. Prof Nagrath obtained his BE with Honours in Electrical Engineering from Birla Engineering College in 1951, and MS from the University of Wisconsin, USA, in 1956.
He co-authored several successful books which include Electric Machines, Modern Power System Analysis and Systems: Modelling and Analysis. He has also published several research papers in prestigious national and international
journals.
