About this ebook

What if reading were a capital offense? "This series is right up there with Robin Hobb’s Elderling books." -Review on Fantasy Faction FB Group

In the land of Oration, magic exists only when read aloud from rare books, and only a select few are born able to cast it. To maintain their power, the wealthy elite enslave all such people from birth and never teach them to read. But when a slave named Baztian secretly becomes literate, he'll start an uprising, whether he wants to or not...

The first in an epic fantasy series with five books and growing! Fans of Sanderson, Weeks, Eddings, and Hobb take note!

I thought it was a little boring in the beginning, but did get better. You will have to learn words and there meaning throught out, but worth it. Follow Baz as decisions are made and what will happen. What will happen when They learn he can read? Now to see what happens in the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the author

Daniel (D. T.) Kane grew up with a dad who read to him about wizards and dragons, and a mom who spent countless hours reviewing his book reports on novels about talking animals. He reads to himself now, but his taste in books hasn’t strayed far from his childhood days. Dan works in the legal field by day and spends nights and weekends working on his next novel. When he isn’t writing, he’s spending time with his wife, Linda, and dog, Buddy. They enjoy traveling, movies, and craft beer (Buddy sticks to water).
