This is book 2 in the Bullard’s Battle series and it features Cain and Petra. At first, I couldn’t see their attraction. It was gradual and then sped up quickly towards the end. Cain is there looking for a link to who wants him and his team dead and to find out who killed Bullard. She’s been through so much with her family. I can’t imagine why ANYONE would stick around with a family like hers. Great characters! I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to hear any kind of news in regards to Bullard and why it’s all happening in the first place.

I am really enjoying this gripping series. Cain's book manage to add more intensity to this engaging story. Suspense, action, drama, mystery and emotion combine into a powerful mixture that creates plenty of thrills and excitement. Petra and Cain were easy to root for. They made a couple that fit together seamlessly. I am choosing to post a candid review freely.

Have you ever seen one of those twisty roads, sharp turns and all? That is Cain's Cross. Twist, turns, surprises. Bitter relatives and a town over run with greed and crime. Poor Petra, and yet how resilient and proud, how steadfast and honest. You go girl!!! Cain and Eaton uncover a few more clues and find them twisted with Petra's families past. Cain and Eaton played well off each other and the cherry on top is more interaction with Ice!! This is book 2 in Bullard's Battle and I highly recommend reading book 1 as this picks up right where that left off, with Cain hearing he's next. When you finish 1 and 2 you will be waiting for 3, like we are as the clues slowly unravel. Thank you for the arc Dale Mayer and Booksprout, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
