This is the fifteenth book in Dale Mayer's K9Files series, each one as heartwarming as the last. Kyron Edgewater had sustained life changing injuries whilst on a mission as a navy SEAL, his life was in turmoil, he had no direction. When he was offered the chance to go to Aspen to look for a war dog that had gone off the radar Kyron was unsure, he had given up working with K9 war dogs because he couldn't stand to see them getting hurt, also his estranged family lived in Aspen, he had never felt part of the family, his parents favoured his brother and didn't bother to hide it. Kyron couldn't stand by and see a dog who had served his country possibly be abandoned in the cold Aspen winter so he took up the challenge. This story follows Kyron's search for Beth the war dog with one leg missing, his meeting with Miranda Galloway, an animal lover who had filled her home with a menagerie of different animals that needed rehoming, none would be turned away, the threats of violence and worse from Miranda's crazy next door neighbour, the anger and frustration at the lack of action from the police department, Kyron's coming to terms with his dysfunctional family and memories of his beloved grandfather and lastly the inevitable romance between Miranda and Kyron and their shared dreams. This story had me gripped from the beginning. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Kyron is sent to find Beth. Beth is a 3 legged Malinois, and she's missing after being adopted out through the war dogs program. Miranda runs an animal rescue, and is doing everything she can to keep her animals safe, which isn't easy with a crazy neighbour that's dangerous. Kyron and Miranda have a lot in common.. not only are they both animal/dog lovers, but they both come from pretty dysfunctional family environments. This book had all the elements for a stay up all night reading binge. The k-9 series by Dale Mayer is one of my favourites. Who doesn't love a great story about rescuing dogs that served for the military, and when you add in a love connection.. well you know you're going to love the novel.

It's Kyron's mission to check on a retired injured war-dog that has been reported missing and it's in his hometown where hard feelings in his family still exist 'till this day. While searching Beth-this war dog, Kyron met this wonderful animal rescuer Miranda, yup this is where the sparks starts, I usually not a big fan of insta-love but with similar past and both an animal lover it felt like they're perfect together and totally needed each other. Like I said this one felt really sweet for me. Then add suspense with crazy neighbour and so many toxic people that got me really pissed off and totally get it why Kyron don't want to go back here in the first place, then it became a very enjoyable entertaining read. It's predictable and the repititions a bit bothering me but still I really enjoyed this one, an animal rescue story mixed with a neighbour from hell, family drama and a cute insta-love meant-to-be romance. It's so easy-to-read and so many angst and suspense that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Definitely recommended this book to anyone who's looking for a fast-paced easy-to-read roamntic suspense read.
