Dale Mayer’s novel Skin is deserving of top recognition in literature for the year. Usually when I recommend a book it is for a specific audience based on genre. This book is for everyone I know who loves to read. There are so many ways that people can damage one another that it is hard to even image what some people go through, the kind of damage that lasts and reaches the spirit and too often the body. Some hide the pain from the world while others just hide from the world and then there are the ones who work to find a way to live through it, not just exist, but really live. Tania, Kane, and the others who attend Jenna’s therapy sessions are just such people. Jenna has the special magic, or maybe it is just the understanding, that those who attend her group are ready for. This book is the story of Tania and Kane and their journey from long held pain, to healing, to living. I was thrilled to received an early copy of this book from the author to review.

I liked the title of this series "broken but mending". No one knows what's behind the image one sees everyday, but when you're a victim the shadows and darkness are the scariest until you reach the light.

The book skin is as the title explains skin, meaning that certain aspects of the characters life that have stalled said characters life; is going on is exposed for the reader to see. This book was a journey from self hate and loathing to acceptance and freedom. It was an absolute joy to read !!!!!
