America¿s wilderness was opened to permanent settlement by such wayfarers as the inveterate frontiersman Daniel Boone (DB). As the pioneers pushed against the frontier & across the continent, Boone¿s wandering spirit was there. His intrepid spirit was the mark of American resourcefulness & determination, & it is not surprising that the memory of the frontier experience has been burned into the national consciousness. DB was born in PA & there he grew up. A portion of the farm on which he lived & the ancient house that is part of it are preserved as the DB Homestead in Berks County.
