About this ebook

Daniel Defoe’s famous novel Robinson Crusoe, was published in 1719, it is perhaps considered to be the first novel in English. The story of the English castaway was likely influenced by the real life of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway, who had run away to sea in 1704 and requested to be left on an uninhabited island to be rescued five years later. Like him Crusoe ends up on a deserted island in the manner of Selkirk. This book, under the series ‘Young Readers Classic’, gives a close picture of the hero. The lively illustrations speak of the adventure of the hero. The division of the book into chapters will also help the young readers correlate with the incidents.
