Wow, So Full Of Emotions But With Some Machinations & Bitter Betrayals Too!!💔🔥💘😡😱😢💥 Another Unmissable Addition To This Spectacular Series!🌟 Heartless: Crossbreed #9 (Mageriverse #23) Keystone is set another mission: Infiltrate a fight ring & gather enough evidence to take down the owners, spectators, fighters & anyone else involved!!😲 Their way in - via a sexual fantasy club!🙈 Raven is going in undercover as a bartender & as Vampire's aren't allowed in this club, Christian can't be her partner.😕 Blue would be the ideal choice but their skimpy work wear would show her scars & Breed aren't kind about what they'd class as 'deformity & weakness' so Claude will be her back-up in the Club!👍 Christian gives them a shopping list & says they can't deviate from it.😳😂 Raven struggles, over time, seeing the constant power play between the customers, even though it's consensual. It's too big of a reminder of her creator & her past abuse.😭💔 She's cut off from Christian & Keystone as it's too risky for the mission. Even Claude can't act as if he knows her!😔 Christian isn't happy when he finds out who their backer from the Higher Authority is, but can't read any deceit, he hopes.🙏 He's then placed as their bodyguard by Viktor as they're in a perilous position too apparently!?😒 Raven is approached to join the fights. She's blindsided & is thrown in the deep end unexpectedly. Luckily she's trained & is good!🙏 There's much more to it though & she has to risk it to see Viktor to warn him!!😲 Its all coming to a head but will Keystone be able to find and then back up Raven in time? And what she discovers is so much worse than any of them could ever have suspected!!💔😭💥 This is a book of emotional contradictions from start to finish. Its witty, the shopping mall scene is hilarious & in a darker way, so is the drunken search scene too!😂🙈 But then we have Blue trying to deal with her physical scars & how they'll now restrict her for work but also is it affecting her mentally? There's a wonderfully touching scene between her & Raven where Raven tries to offer her support. I think it's the deepest & nicest these two have been to each other!🙏 Blue returns the favour after an awful night for Raven during the mission, where Raven's mental scars are displayed, so I'm hopeful a friendship is forming.😍 The first fight left Raven feeling powerful but the second absolutely sickened her. These contradictions continued throughout & were fascinating!🙏💕 I loved this book but hated the subject matter, thankfully it doesn't dwell on it too much. It's very much about the emotions of the characters & power is deeply involved in this entire storyline. Whether it's consensual power play, money giving it or how having no riches leaves you powerless, then the real power of politics & the machinations behind the scenes!!😱😒 A real book of our times!💔 There are some deeply disturbing encounters for Raven in this book. Both are perpetrated by people I've never trusted. 😡 I'm hoping things play out in Keystone's favour eventually, & that no-one does anything stupid!!😳🙏😢 This is a gem of a book, completely gripping & unmissable!!🌟 Debbie, 1970, UK
