About this eBook

There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you...

Carrying Death's orders is my sole duty. I've never had reason to question her, even if I disagreed. But Kyra's fierceness and willpower sheds light on my mission. She drives the darkness of my world away. The answers to the Others' goals lie in her past. For Kyra, I will risk going against Death's wishes. For her...I will battle the past and the future itself.

I am a little disappointed with this book. Since the last Reapers book left off with the Reapers, Rhi and Balladyn planning to battle with Useil (who had a pact with the Others) to rescue Con and Xaneth. This story skips all of the battle and tells you the outcome of it and jumps straight into the new enemy. I really like a lot of the characters in this series and I want to find out about my favorite ones and what their stories will be.

I received Dark Alpha's Temptation as an ARC and all opinions are my honest and sincere opinions. This is Donna Grant's 9th Reaper Novella and is a part of her Dark world of Dark Kings and Warriors. It is not necessary that you read these books in order, but in truth it is HIGHLY recommended that you do so, and is WELL worth the binge! The Reapers are a secret group of Fae who are charged with carrying out Death's orders. How's that for a lead in? This 9th novella centers around Reaper Dubhan and the woman who sees him and is drawn to him, Kyra The two set out to discover the identities of some of the horrible group out to destroy the Dragon Kings. While doing so we meet Mike, a mortal character who is charming and helpful and slowly becoming a tool of the Others I personally am rooting that he becomes another Henry-like character, because after just this one meeting, I already like him very much. We also are introduced to a new family of Seers, of which Kyra is a powerful member of. We are reminded how wonderful Death and her Reapers are. We are also given the confirmations that most of us long term readers have expected. All that being said, I was a little let down by this novella. I suppose it's mostly because of Dubhan. I suppose not every Reaper has to be the all powerful Alpha (despite the title) I just felt that Dubhan was simply a happy-go-lucky easy going guy, content to let the other Reapers and even Kyra do anything and everything around him. He did not have a very active voice to me, and so most of his dialogue I wound up skipping over in favor of Kyra's. Kyra is a breath of fresh air in the series in that she is very sharp-eyed and isn't so afraid of the Reapers or even of Death, to speak her mind. But even then, I felt that her creation, and indeed, this novella in its entirety was simply a plot device to get the Reapers and Dragons to work together from here on in. That in itself is NOT a bad thing at all. Donna is writing these novellas for the faithful reader who is knowledgeable about the past set up and doesn't need a lot of history within the pages. I suppose I just miss a little of the couple's push and pull as they get to know each other. That sort of play is so exciting to read and "peak" into as I'm getting to know them. With Kyra and Dubhan, they meet, they have sex, they do a little sleuthing, and right in the middle of the action (even if a slow part) they have sex again. It almost just felt a little bit.. rote. I adore Donna Grant in all her writings, and I'd still read this novella again (and indeed will be doing so because I tend to read fast) but this one time, I feel a little let down. That being said, I am so excited to continue on with the stories and I'll end my review by saying.... GO XANETH!!!! Dark Alpha's Temptation

Dark Alpha’s Temptation by Donna Grant Reaper Novel #9 Dubhan is one of Death’s Reapers and he is being followed. Who is following him? A woman and what a woman she is! Kyra is Light Fae but she has a special gift that allows her to locate Dubhan easily...a rather rare talent as few are able to do such a thing. Once she saw him she was almost inexorably drawn to him and though a bit stalker-ish she really could not pull away. This is a snippet in the long story of this realm. A few characters make appearances, we learn about Dubhan’s family and how he was betrayed, Kyra’s family is almost as bad as Dubhan’s and we hear a bit about them, we learn a bit more about The Others, there are some deaths and a romance with the knowledge that there is an eventual war coming that will be inevitable. I do not think this is a good point to begin reading this series. I have not read all of the series but wouldn’t mind doing so at some point in the future. I have no idea how much longer the story will go on but do hope that eventually the story lines will be tied together and the entire world of dragons, kings, Fae and others will be able to have a bit of peace. Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in the series? Yes Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Paperbacks for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars
