About this eBook

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan brings the love story of Skyler and Dimitri to vivid life in this breathtaking, seductive entry in her dark Carpathian series.

He is Carpathian. Ancient and unassailable. She is human. Young and vulnerable. Without her, he will not survive. Caught between two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free and humans safe. He has survived honorably when others have chosen to give up their souls. Now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri finds himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation is coming...

No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she has something no one else does. She is predestined for Dimitri—as he is for her. And there is nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.

I've been seriously anticipating this book after Dark Lycan left me feeling a little frantic over what would happen to Dimitri after being captured. First, his rescue mission takes up more than half of the book...you might think that would get old but I was just on the edge of my seat and couldn't put it down, because there was no good place to stop until after he was safe. Second, I think what has always worked really well for Feehan were these men who were super dominate and jealous all wrapped up in a loving package that you don't want in real life (it's too overbearing) but you don't mind fantasizing about. However, lately she's given us these male characters with a slightly (and I do mean slightly) softer side, and it's been GREAT. Dimitri hits all the right notes with his understanding nature and his ability to allow Skyler to make the same sacrifices he would make for her. She really takes me back to Dark Slayer, which was one of my favorites b/c for ONCE the female was the better fighter. Due to Dimitri's age and blood he's the stronger one now, but you can definitely imagine a time when she could surpass him. The love between them was unique and beautifully written.

Dark Wolf read as if a ghost writer had written most sections and then Feehan came in later to link the scenes together with her own unique touches. Is someone else penning part of this series? There was no relationship built here, it just appeared and left me feeling confused, as if I should already know that Skylar and Dimitri are a Happily Ever After couple. And why does Skylar have very few emotional problems despite her horrific past? No great details as to how she was fixed other than her and Dimitri "talked" and now she's miraculously cured. The choice of words for the young characters like Paul and Skylar sound more like a 90yo was speaking: "Box your ears"; "birthday suit". And how can a 19yo human girl dupe her legendary relatives Lucian and Gabriel since she lies to them to save the day? This is the last Dark book for me. The plot(s) doesn’t have enough variety to hold my interest any longer and like most series, this is just another one where an author took a great idea and kept writing, failing to realize when a great idea has finally gone bad.

I've been reading this series since the beginning and with this one & Dark Lycan the Dark series has definitely sparked back to life. It was also very good to hear about a lot of the other characters from previous books & be able to catch up on how their lives are progressing. I'm on pins and needles excited to read Zev's story.
