This book was an excellent start for what I'm sure will be a great series. I've listened to a few of James's book series on YouTube, he adds them for free on his channel, and they are all true works of art. The narrator is one of the best I've heard. James's books have set a new bar in my expectations of adult fantasy novels and I've yet to find another author who can match it. I'd highly recommend this book and any of his other books to anyone who loves fantasy but is tired of the same old tropes. If you're unsure I highly recommend listening to his Portal War series or The Divine Key series on YouTube. You won't regret it!!

James is definitely one of my new favourite authors. A master wordsmith. His writing is addictive, fast paced and with characters that make you laugh and swear at times in equal measure. Can't wait to buy everything in paperback for my collection but in the meantime , I'm pleasantly surprised and pleased with the ebook format. Just like a paperback without the ink stains , easy to read and easy to carry with you for a read after long day. I've just read 2 books on my phone after work and I'm off to get book 3 since I still have an hour before bed. Well done Sir . You have a lifelong fan. 👏

Cringey fanfiction style writing. Its creepy having adult characters have pervy interactions (considering the age of the MC and that he's in school way too many inappropriate actions) with a young teen protagonist. Reads like ecchi manga. Obviously some kind of wish fulfilment fiction.
