About this eBook

In the penultimate novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series—the inspiration for the HBO® original series True BloodSookie Stackhouse must work with her first love to clear her current undead flame of murder...

Felipe de Castro, the vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It’s the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank. Now it’s up to Sookie and Bill Compton, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who has set out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

Ugh- I'm honestly just disappointed, Sookie started out being my favorite character but with every novel she gets more on my nerves. She has become more and more self-centered with every book, her character seems to never grow and I hate how she treats Eric, she continually complains about their relationship, but does little herself to keep it. I simply don't know where this series will end, but I am getting really annoyed, it has been how many books of Sookie and Eric working to come together, and now it all seems to be falling apart- I really hope they end up together, but with every book I have my doubts, and that really ticks me off!! All I can hope is the next book turns things around, but with how this series has been going who knows....

I love the Sookie series.. Charlaine Harris is an excellent author. I bought all the books of the series 1-9 but couldn't bring myself to buy the others after reading them online.. this one is proving to be no different. Its like they are milking it dry. I have to re-read to keep caught up because of so many new characters being introduced.. it feels like a homework assignment and not a fun read for me.. I feel like I have to read it to see what happens to Sookie. Oh well.

This book takes us back to the old-fashioned murder mysteries that made the series so fun to begin with. There is still the tangle of sub-plots that only the die-hards will love, but the whodunnit at its core reminds fans why we fell in love in the first place. Definitely near the top of my Sookie stack.
