While the premise and world building were interesting, many of the characters are thin and unbelievable. the strategy discussed by generals often makes no sense given the strategic implications or lack thereof in their previous statements. I read about a third of the book before giving up.

A fun read. There are a lot of things you might expect from something coming out of Japan. What I did not expect was for the story to be somewhat grown up. By that I don't mean there isn't any silliness, there definitely are some moments that are silly. What I mean is, you don't have any panty scenes or scenarios where a female character ends up in a compromising position with a male character, something that seems to get worked into so many light novels and manga. Instead what I read was a war story about a girl who fights in a war while searching for their father figure. The battles are great, albeit sometimes unbelievable due to hubris induced stupidity. All in all, funny characters, interesting battle sequences (although flawed) both come together to make a really fun read. 4/5 would be a 5 if high ranking military officers were actually smarter and if there were more time to have scenes away from the war rooms and battlefields if just to better build characters.
hi bye
the only reason I cant give this 5 stars is the fact the author thinks anything that isnt just charge is a brilliant strategy that requires 600 iq to think of its f***ing absurd how often generals praised for being smart cant for the life of them figure out a obvious trap is a red flag it requires someone slightly and I mean slightly smarter than a 3 year old to correct them everything else is great but with all the battles if you cant overlook this glaring loophole this isnt for you still dont know why they made a war story when they know virtually nothing about war
