About this eBook

Olivia is just a baby when the mysterious Z finds her at a temple in the depths of the Forest of No Return. From that day on, the temple becomes her home and Z her family. Z, a god of death, educates her in the ways of the world, in combat, and in the long-forgotten arts of magic—right up until the day Z disappears. Olivia leaves the forest for the first time in search of Z with its ebony blade in hand.

Out in the wider world, all is not well. A bitter war rages between the Asvelt Empire and the Kingdom of Fernest, and Fernest is losing badly. When Olivia shows up on Fernest’s doorstep with a sack of imperial heads looking to volunteer, the royal army happily welcomes her into its ranks. Thanks to Z’s training, she quickly proves herself as a ferocious warrior. In fact, she might be just what Fernest needs to turn the tide of the war...but will they accept her lack of people skills and disregard for discipline? And will she ever see Z again?

I really enjoy reading this book plus the artist is cierra (シエラ) so, that's a bonus for me! since i've just read the beginning, my opinion might change after I read the next volume but as for now, I totally got sucked in the story! The story isn't just about Olivia all the time! they told the story from another perspective as well but too bad since my english isn't that great I can't enjoy it 100% (haha really need to improve on that one) but then again, this eBook has increased my knowledge in English and little bit of battlefield situations and their tactics. The illustrations are super cute as well!

the only reason I cant give this 5 stars is the fact the author thinks anything that isnt just charge is a brilliant strategy that requires 600 iq to think of its f***ing absurd how often generals praised for being smart cant for the life of them figure out a obvious trap is a red flag it requires someone slightly and I mean slightly smarter than a 3 year old to correct them everything else is great but with all the battles if you cant overlook this glaring loophole this isnt for you still dont know why they made a war story when they know virtually nothing about war

A fun read. There are a lot of things you might expect from something coming out of Japan. What I did not expect was for the story to be somewhat grown up. By that I don't mean there isn't any silliness, there definitely are some moments that are silly. What I mean is, you don't have any panty scenes or scenarios where a female character ends up in a compromising position with a male character, something that seems to get worked into so many light novels and manga. Instead what I read was a war story about a girl who fights in a war while searching for their father figure. The battles are great, albeit sometimes unbelievable due to hubris induced stupidity. All in all, funny characters, interesting battle sequences (although flawed) both come together to make a really fun read. 4/5 would be a 5 if high ranking military officers were actually smarter and if there were more time to have scenes away from the war rooms and battlefields if just to better build characters.
