About this ebook

Marriage is for dupes and fools.  It is a truth Lord Whiddon has witnessed firsthand and more than once.  He’s been distraught, watching his closest friends fall one by one—and he’s determined to avoid parson’s mousetrap himself.

He’s surprised, then, to find himself in sympathy with a pretty, young debutante, in Town for the Season and determined to find herself a husband.  But Miss Charlotte Mayne is a challenge and a worthy verbal sparring partner, with unique vision and a vulnerability that only he seems to see.  He can’t marry her himself, but he deigns to help her in her quest.

Well.  Best laid plans and all of that.  Misfortune—and a spiteful adversary—strikes, and the pair finds themselves forced to wed.

Whiddon vows it will be a marriage in name only, but Charlotte wants more.  She marshals her wit, determination and probing insight and plans her siege, but she’s up against Whiddon’s stubbornness, the ghosts of his past, and the maneuverings of their foes.

Will fiery passion and fledgling love be enough to conquer the obstacles in their path—and their own fears?

Deb Marlowe’s “Why Do Earls Fall in is book 5 in the “A Series of Unconventional Courtships” series. Deb Marlowe is a new author to me but one I’ll be reading much more of in the future! Gabriel Harris, Earl of Whiddon is the last one of his friends to remain unmarried and he’s determined to keep the status quo. Having suffered through a difficult childhood he has seen marriage go horribly wrong. The impoverished Miss Charlotte Mayne is In London for her season in hopes of finding a husband and helping her family. Charlotte past has been difficult as well and unfortunately she has some really nasty relatives. Gabriel is a savior, he can’t help but save those he finds in distress and when he finds himself in a compromising position with Charlotte he marries her. What starts out as a marriage of convenience turns into so much more. I love Charlotte, she’s strong, capable, intelligent and determined. Gabriel was equally as enjoyable he just needed a good woman behind him. With great characters, wonderful dialogue, and an adventurous storyline the author weaves a book sure to please. Gabriel and Charlotte have wonderful chemistry and it does get a bit steamy. This is a fantastic story with characters your love and dastardly villains you will love to hate. Thank you so much Ms. Marlowe for this exciting romance and love story of two people so meant for one another.

Lord Whiddon, Gabriel, has no desire to ever be married. The entire ton knows this. So imagine the ton's surprise when all of a sudden he comes to the rescue of Miss Charlotte Mayne. From the first moment Gabriel and Charlotte are together, there is something that just draws her to him. The best part is that they can both be themselves together. When one encounter leads to kiss that is witnessed by everyone, Gabriel is forced to offer for Charlotte's hand. Gabriel is determined to have a marriage in name only, while Charlotte is equally determined to have a real marriage. After marriage, these two fight their feelings for one another until they both give in. Of course things from both of their pasts come into play that ends up leading to danger. They are both going to have to really trust the other in order to find their happy ending. When things go downhill quickly that trust is going to be put to the test but thankfully Charlotte and Gabriel do find their happy ending. I really enjoyed Why Do Earls Fall In Love by Deb Marlow. It is a super sexy story that has such fun characters. It was so fun watching the marriage adverse Gabriel fall hard. He was such a strong, stubborn but extremely faithful man. I also enjoyed Charlotte. She had such determination in everything she did. Gabriel was lucky to have her! Overall this was another wonderful story from Ms. Marlow.
