This was lovely, and captivating! It dealt with the horrors of war, yet romance brewing in an unlikely place. The author does an excellent job peaking your interest. Being a Nurse, I enjoyed the narrative from a Nurse's viewpoint, their thoughts, feelings, reactions, were beyond what's expected. Great read! 👍

Miss Carr has a style of story-telling that is straight from the heart without fancy flourishes or words meant to impress but not necessary to hold interest in the storyline. She simply captivates the reader and the reader can not resist. You want a sip of your tea but your finger turns another page ignoring the tea cup and it's aroma so enticing. Your stomach growls - time for a break but your finger turns another page. Your eyes are tearing a bit from the strain of straight reading for a few hours but your finger turns another page. On and On then, suddenly, without warning, the story is complete. And I was not ready. I am hopelessly fascinated with Jack, Brave Pilot of War and Dedicated Beekeeper and I know there is more to know. So now there is tea and cinnamon toast but my finger travels to the booklist Miss Carr has left for those of us who can not resist a sensitive, charming story that lingers in our thoughts drawing out new ideas to ponder. i will be reading and rereading Miss Carr's stories this summer. A new Author to me who will become an old friend, oh the joy!
